China, Pakistan sign MoU to develop 150 MWs wind energy projects

Chinese and Pakistani companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop 150 megawatts of wind energy projects, Gwadar Pro reported Tuesday. Pakistan’s Reon Energy Ltd. and China’s SANY Renewable Energy Ltd. will collaborate on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects in the commercial and industrial (C&I) segment. Reon said the partnership reflects a shared vision for a sustainable future and signals growing interest in Chinese wind technology among Pakistani private firms. In 2024, companies like Lucky Cement, Yunus Textile Mills, and Liberty Mills installed wind power plants in Karachi using turbines from China’s Goldwind, supplied through Orient Energy Systems. Meanwhile, demand for Chinese solar energy is also increasing. On April 24, China’s Huasun partnered with Pakistan’s Bahum Associates for 500 MW of heterojunction modules, while on April 25, Orient Energy signed an agreement to install a 7 MW solar park at Servis Long March (SLM) Tires, a China-Pakistan joint venture, following an earlier 2 MW installation.
