President Asif Ali Zardari, accompanied by First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, reaffirmed Pakistan’s “unshakeable” ties with China during a series of high-level meetings in Shanghai. He underscored that while hostile elements may attempt to disrupt the relationship, they would never succeed, as the bond between the two countries is rooted in trust and mutual respect.
During the visit, President Zardari urged Chinese companies to expand investment in electric vehicles, renewable energy, waste management, and advanced manufacturing, assuring full policy support from Pakistan. He also witnessed the signing of three key MoUs covering agriculture, vocational education, and tyre recycling—initiatives aimed at boosting food security, skills development, and sustainable environmental practices.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in parallel meetings with Chinese corporations, highlighted the urgent need for Pakistan to embrace renewable energy solutions to sustain rapid economic growth and combat climate change. He praised Sindh’s ongoing solar power projects, emphasizing that green energy was not only an economic imperative but also a climate necessity.
Observers noted that the Shanghai engagements have injected fresh momentum into Pakistan-China cooperation under CPEC, opening new avenues in agriculture, technology, and digital infrastructure. The visit is being seen as a strong signal that both nations are determined to shape a green, modern, and future-ready partnership.
