Zardari: Pakistan, China to Deepen Defence and Aviation Partnership

President Asif Ali Zardari, during his 10-day visit to China, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding collaboration with Beijing in defence production and aviation, calling the partnership vital for regional security and technological growth. In a historic first for any foreign head of state, Zardari toured China’s Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), where he was briefed on cutting-edge advancements, including J-10C fighter jets, JF-17 co-production, UAVs, and 5th-generation stealth aircraft. Hailing AVIC as a symbol of China’s innovation and Pakistan-China’s enduring bond, he noted the pivotal role of J-10 and JF-17 jets in May 2025’s military operations. Accompanied by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, and senior officials, the president’s visit underscores Islamabad’s resolve to deepen its all-weather strategic partnership with Beijing through defence, economic, and connectivity initiatives. The visit also highlights Pakistan’s growing interest in leveraging China’s aerospace expertise to modernize its defence industry. With planned meetings in Shanghai and Xinjiang, Zardari is set to broaden discussions on trade, CPEC, and future regional connectivity projects, cementing Pakistan’s place as a key partner in China’s strategic vision.
