Chinese automaker Jiangling Group Electric Vehicle (JMEV) is deepening its partnership with Pakistan’s Capital Smart Motors (CSM) by moving towards localized production and expanding its retail network, signaling a stronger push into right-hand-drive markets. During recent talks in Pakistan, both sides discussed KD assembly, product localization, and technical cooperation, marking a new stage of synergy in the EV sector. JMEV plans to launch models tailored for Pakistan, including the EV2 PLUS+, EV3 PLUS, and ELIGHT 05S, with its flagship ELIGHT offering a 500 km range, advanced safety, and tropical climate-ready batteries. With overseas exports up 287% in the first half of 2025, Pakistan is emerging as a key growth market, where sedan bookings now require a 10% advance and a 90-day delivery window. The collaboration is expected to not only bring affordable EVs to Pakistani consumers but also create new opportunities for technology transfer, local assembly, and skilled jobs. Analysts say this move could accelerate Pakistan’s transition towards sustainable mobility and strengthen industrial cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.
