Pakistani scientist Dr. Shaukat Ali, an Associate Professor at South China Agricultural University, has been honored with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s highest civil awards, for his groundbreaking work in agricultural innovation and fostering Sino-Pak scientific cooperation. Based in China for two decades, Dr. Ali has pioneered eco-friendly pest control technologies and introduced them to Pakistan’s citrus industry, boosting fruit quality and exports. As the only researcher in China to receive the award this year, he described it as a “lifetime achievement” and a testament to the deep trust and friendship between Pakistan and China. His recognition also highlights the vital role of overseas Pakistani professionals in strengthening bilateral ties and advancing sustainable farming practices. Dr. Ali hopes the honor will inspire young researchers to contribute toward projects that benefit both nations.
