Pakistani and Chinese enterprises sealed agricultural joint ventures worth $601.25 million at the 2nd Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference, held in Beijing on September 4 during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit. Key deals included a $500m partnership between Pakistan’s Hitech Technological Concern and China’s Weichai Lovol to modernize agricultural machinery and promote smart farming, while IMGC signed a $100m JV with Zhongzhihui Agriculture Development to boost crop technology. Another $1.25m agreement between Buraq Tractors and China’s Xinyukun Industry will enhance localized tractor manufacturing.
With agriculture commitments totaling nearly $661m, the sector emerged as a top priority, promising advanced technology transfer, capital inflows, and new jobs to strengthen Pakistan’s food security and rural economy. Officials emphasized that these ventures will not only expand bilateral trade but also accelerate Pakistan’s shift toward sustainable and technology-driven farming practices. The agreements reflect agriculture’s growing role as a cornerstone of Pakistan-China economic cooperation under the 2025–2029 framework.
